Why Robotics?
Robotics is
the field of machines that work for humans.
It is the synthesis
of machines, automation, and user interfaces.
It is multi-disciplinary, including power flow, mechanics, materials, fluids,
electricity, electronics, computing, communications, information, cognitive science, and ergonomics.
Robotic
Systems work at a distance, with some level of autonomy,
given direction from a human supervisor.
Cellular robots are cooperating robotic systems.
These themes
also describe how robotic systems are designed and integrated -
by multi-disciplinary, cooperating team members,
working at a distance, with various
levels of autonomy,
coordinated by a project manager.
